What to check in Germany
🚩 Germany has the hardest gate in Europe for a foreign qualification. The ZAB maintains anabin, a public database classifying foreign institutions; if the awarding institution is not classified as recognised there, the file usually stops before anyone reads your transcript. Check anabin first — it is free. Germany also runs Europe’s largest distance university.
If you take a qualification abroad and bring it back here, it is assessed by the Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen (ZAB), which maintains the anabin database of recognised foreign institutions. The process there: Zeugnisbewertung. All 104 countries are mapped here.
